Ninsei An is our largest property, prefect for families or larger groups who want the added luxury of separate bedrooms. Come and cook up a feast in the open kitchen-dining area or simply have a quiet cup of coffee in the morning on the loveseat looking out into the Japanese garden. 

​

The machiya has three bedrooms with different features. Our ground floor bedroom has two single simmons beds and has extra spacing to allow for larger suitcases or wheelchair access. The second floor consists of two Japanese rooms each accommodating two plush Japanese futons. Added features include a family room-living room upstairs with a sofa and plenty of entertainment options from various complimentary streaming services, a small librabry of holiday friendly books, board games to a retro Nintendo Wii - we like old things!

The machiya also features a large bathroom combined restroom on the groundfloor with a soaking tub and rainshower. Separately there is a toilet and shower room on the second floor with a separate washer & dryer.

Dohachi An is a cosy machiya that is inspired by the pottery studios that adorned the neighboorhood. The machiya is like a living gallery with displays of antique and modern pieces from the studios of Imakumano to the historic artifacts found during the renovation of the hotel. 

 

The downstairs layout features an open kitchen-dining area that also acts as a family room. You can sit around a horikotatsu (built in table that heats up in the colder months) and enjoy a meal, watch the TV or find your inner peace viewing your private Japanse garden. 

 

The bathroom has a large changing area that also has a separate washer & dryer unit. The bath is a warm Japanese cypress wood tub with a separate rainshower. 

 

Our upstairs sleeping area is a traditional Japanese lay out and sleeps up to five guests. You can close the washi paper fusuma doors and create two bedrooms. The upstaris also features a small alcove with built-in loveseat and ottoman, additional entertainment area with television and small computer desk

Mokubei An An is a cosy machiya that is inspired by nature and the bamboo forests of Kyoto. The machiya combines element of bamboo in its designs from an antique bamboo bannister to wallpaper inspired by morning mist rising above the hills of Kyoto. The deisgn evokes a sense of zen for our travel weary guests. 

 

The downstairs layout features an open kitchen-dining area that also acts as a family room. You can sit around a horikotatsu (built in table that heats up in the colder months) and enjoy a meal, watch the TV or find your inner peace viewing your private Japanse garden with a stone lantern and small deck terrace. 

 

The bathroom has a large changing area that also has a separate washer & dryer unit. The bath is a warm Japanese cypress wood tub with a separate rainshower. 

 

Our upstairs sleeping area is a traditional Japanese lay out and sleeps up to five guests. You can close the washi paper fusuma doors and create two bedrooms. The upstaris also features a small play tatami play with a large TV - perfect for families where kids can play upstairs!
